New here? The fastest path: sign in with Discord → link your Riot ID → request a rating → join or create a team. Your homepage shows a live checklist of exactly where you stand, so you never have to wonder what's next.
Getting Started
- Sign in with Discord. This creates your profile — no separate account or password.
- Link your Riot ID(s) on your profile, in the format
GameName#TAG. List every account you might play on — it helps us keep matches fair and catch smurfing.
- Set your primary account (your main) with the “Make Primary” button. Your stats and rating are anchored to it.
- Pick your preferred roles, and flip “Looking for Team” if you want captains to recruit you.
- Request a salary rating. One button — admins handle the rest. See Ratings & Eligibility for what's required.
Not on a team yet? Check Looking for Team on your profile, then hop into the Beer League Discord — captains recruit free agents there.
Ratings & Eligibility
Every player gets a salary — a number representing your skill. Teams are built under a salary cap, which keeps games competitive instead of stacked.
- New players need at least 30 ranked solo-queue games in the current ranked season before a rating can be published.
- Returning players — anyone who was on a Beer League roster within the last 2 years — have no game minimum. Your recent games still inform the rating.
- Staying valid: to play in a season, your rating must have been published within 60 days of that season's registration deadline. If it's older than that when registration closes, just request a fresh review.
Your profile shows your rating's age and flags it when it's out of date — and your homepage checklist tells you whether you're eligible for the next season.
Teams
Teams persist between seasons — reuse the same team to build a record, or spin up a new one each season. It's up to you.
Create a team
- On the Teams page, click Create Team.
- Enter a name and tag, and add a logo. (Explicit imagery is not allowed and can result in a ban.)
- You're now the captain. Manage the team anytime from My Teams on your profile.
Invite teammates
- Open Manage Invites → Create Invite, copy the link, and send it to your teammate.
- Each invite link works for 48 hours and can be used once — create a fresh link per person.
Join a team
- Open a valid invite link while signed in and you're added automatically. (You'll need a primary Riot ID linked first.)
- Transfer captaincy to another member, or leave/disband your team, from the manage page.
- Need to step away? Any member can leave their team from My Teams on their profile.
Team rules
- You can captain up to 2 teams.
- You can't play for 2 teams in the same season — you're locked to the first one that registers you for that season.
- You can be on different teams across different seasons or leagues.
Seasons
Seasons are organized by league — Lite (lower cap, more casual) and Stout (higher cap, higher stakes). The Seasons page shows whatever's active right now up top, with past seasons archived by league below.
- Find an upcoming season on the Seasons page. Each card shows the cap, start date, and registration deadline — read these.
- Open the season and click Apply Team (captains only).
- Pick your starting five. Flexing roles in actual matches is fine — this is just for the application.
- Your five must fit under the salary cap, or the application is rejected automatically.
- Admins review applications and ratings. Once accepted, your team shows up under that season's Teams.
Match Day
- After registration closes, admins generate the schedule on the season page.
- Each week, either captain opens the week's match, clicks the Game N card, and generates a tournament code.
- Generate a new tournament code for every single game. Reusing a code means the game won't report and stats will be lost.
- Results post automatically once the game finishes. If they don't, an admin can recover them — flag it (see below).
