About The Beer League — Amateur League of Legends Community

Welcome to The Beer League! We're an amateur League of Legends community where hundreds of players compete on organized teams in seasonal tournaments. Whether you're here to climb ranks, make friends, or just escape solo queue, you're in the right place.

What is a Recreational League of Legends League?

A recreational (rec) League of Legends league is organized competitive play for non-professional players — think rec-league softball or basketball, but for League of Legends. The Beer League has been running since 2020, organizing seasonal tournaments where teams compete in structured 5v5 play, get featured on live streams, and actually have fun together. It's competitive, but the focus is on building a community and playing the game with people you enjoy.

Who Can Join This Amateur LoL League?

Anyone! We use ranked caps and team 'salary caps' each season to keep matches competitive and balanced. Our players range from Silver to Masters, with most sitting around Plat-Emerald. Whether you're grinding ranked or just here for a good time, you'll find your place in our amateur esports community.

How Do I Find a League of Legends Team to Join?

Nope, you don't need to bring a team! While some players bring pre-made squads, plenty of people find teams through our free agents channels on Discord and the website. Show up, participate in the community, watch some streams, chat in Discord, and you'll find your people. Teams are always looking for players who are active and fun to play with.

How Do Amateur League of Legends Seasons Work?

We run two main seasons a year: spring (registration in January) and fall (registration in August), plus shorter tournaments during the off-season. Each season, teams play weekly matches with flexible scheduling - you coordinate with your opponents to find a time that works. It's structured enough to feel competitive but flexible enough for people with actual lives. Full rules and season details are in our rules document.

Get Involved Beyond Playing

We're always looking for people to help with casting, content creation, music production, design, stats, web development, tournament organization - whatever you're into. For a lot of people, the Beer League is a creative outlet beyond just playing games. Jump into Discord, hit up the production chat, or DM a commissioner to get involved.
